Mike Finn

I was born in 1945 . I have been married since 1967 and have a grown up family and grandchildren. I was a professional electrical engineer for most of my working life and became a landlord after taking early retirement  in 1995. Therefore I am not a "Career Landlord" who is often thought to be skilled in the art of charging maximum rent and doing minimum for it. I am a fair and responsible person and "hands-on" landlord.

 In your search for housing you may have already read suggestions by large landlords and agents that individual private land lords are a "risk". I suggest that the reverse is more likely because hands-on individual land lords like me have no one to hide behind and have far more to lose by not living up to their promises and to the expectations of their tenants.If you have obtained my name from existing or past tenants I hope you will already have asked their opinion of the service they have had.If you wish to speak to present tenants please ask for contact details.

I now own eight properties - six shared houses (2 - 4 bed, 3 - 5 bed ,2 – 6 bed ) and one large house converted into seven one bedroom flats of various sizes. I therefore have the financial stability to meet all normal commitments and can still deal with my properties on a direct basis. If you become a tenant you will meet me often!

My properties are all licensed by Leeds City Council and I am an Approved Landlord and member of the Leeds Landlords Association.

Standards and Service

The properties are all managed by myself .I do not use agents and all requests for service or repairs or help are made directly to me. This results in a more efficient and responsive service and with the help of good tenants I try to provide clean , comfortable and well maintained properties which are enjoyable to live in. I purchased most of my properties as private houses and they remain largely the same now . They have been improved and modified for shared occupancy. They have not been converted to create more rooms and more income. I try to provide a temporary home rather than a space to let.
 
Location
All the houses are in excellent locations and convenient for the universities and close to public transport to the city if you do not want to walk. All houses are within easy walking distance of a university campus. The flats and the two Harolds are also only a short walk from the city centre. All other houses are in prime positions within vibrant Headingly Area of Leeds.


Rooms and Rents


All bedrooms in all houses are double rooms with double beds and priced between £65 and £75 pw though these are sometimes negotiable. The rent asked reflects the size of room and facilities provided.
All rooms are guaranteed to have as a minimum , the following furniture , in acceptable condition at the start of your tenancy; 1 double bed, 1 wardrobe, 3 or 5 drawer chest, bedside table and a desk with chair.
You may bring your own items of furniture if you wish and unwanted provided items will be stored. All furniture must comply with fire regulations.
Rooms are guaranteed to be clean and acceptably decorated with clean servicable floorcoverings. All rooms are gas central heated and double glazed.
